A BAD case of pumpkin arm
What? WHAT???
I've returned?!?!?
I know, I know. I don't even deserve you people. I've just been stringing you along, not posting anything. I'm sorry. Sorry. Ory.
Well, it's official, this is a busy life. I hope we didn't do this because we thought it would be really relaxing. Honestly, I can't complain though.
For one, I can see a light at the end of the tunnel in terms of workload. See?
For two, my mind is like a dry learning sponge (shout out Sam Smith!) soaking up all the plant jargon and experiences...
Words like plant habit, availability, unrooted cuttings and Ball FloraPlant fill my days. I'm learning how to reconcile in QuickBooks and make pricing and restocking decisions. I even got my first case of pumpkin arm!
What's that?? You've not heard of pumpkin arm! WELL, let me tell you!
We got in 10 big bins of pumpkins from another (adorable) local grower for our retail location in Wichita (Kansas, for any Texas-centric readers). Each bin had roughly 50 pumpkins in it. For those of you who struggle mathematically, that's approximately 500 pumpkins. (!!!!!)
Myself, Joel and our lovely helper gal unloaded all of them into their new home. It was mildly taxing, to under-exaggerate wildly. However, the best part by FAR (sarcasm) came along AFTER the pumpkin lugging, when my amazingly reactive arms broke out with eczema that continued into the next week. So itchy.
And THAT, my friends, is pumpkin arm.
AAAANNNNYYYWAY, wanna see a picture of the greenhouses?
And the little pansies we grew from tiny little babies (see below, a photographic timeline).
A few more noteworthy events from the past month...
We're at Whole Foods Market!!!
We are one of the awesomely lucky local growers to be working as a vendor for Whole Foods. It's pretty cool to have our flowers and plants there, and not only because it means I get to enjoy going there more often.
Joel has been working on recovering one of our 16 greenhouses.
He's a badass. He has had help...but he's still a badass. I mean, only a badass can pull off a bandana so convincingly.
Ok, obviously A LOT of other things have happened in the last month, but I won't keep you any longer. I'm already impressed that you haven't fallen asleep. I almost did, and I'm writing this stuff.
THANKS for reading and caring, and I PROMISE I'll be back soon. No more than 2 weeks!
I'm Kiley, Kiley
