Don't read this if you don't like neck holes.
BIG NEWS! I wrote a new post!!!!!
And a pretty picture of succulents.
OOOOOOH, AAAAAAHHHHH.
In other news:
Fern has a tube through her neck. I would post a picture, but you don't want to see it. I promise.
Backstory: A few weeks ago we escorted Ferny baby to the vet because it was all too apparent that her face hurt a lot. The vet explains that she shoved her arm down Fern's throat and that (SURPRISINGLY) she didn't manage to find anything in her delicate search of Fern's innards (can you feel the sarcasm?).
The vet prescribed Fern some antibiotics and pain pills and sent her home.
The next day I wake up to let the dogs out. One of Fern's eyes is swollen and pointing TO THE SIDE. Not straight ahead.
It's rough.
Naturally, I take her BACK to the vet's office. A different vet sees her and he suspects that it could be an autoimmune disease in which Fern's own immune cells attack the muscle cells in her jaw and face. He says to see how she progresses and bring her back in if it gets worse.
It doesn't get worse - but it doesn't totally go away. So, I go on thinking Fern's got this autoimmune disease and that when it gets bad again she's going to have to get steroid injections. It's a bummer man.
Then, this last Sunday night, Fern obviously feels terrible. She is panting and warm and doesn't want to eat. It's a rough night. MAYBE even more rough than her sideways eye was the day after her first vet visit.
We take her to the vet first thing in the morning. Apparently this whole time a bacterial infection has been eating a hole in her neck. So much so that the hole is nearly all the way through her neck meat. HOW AWFUL.
Now Ferny girl has a hole all the way through her neck meat (the vet went ahead and finished the job) with an inch long, 1/4 inch in diameter tube holding it open while the wound drains. Sorry if you're puking all over your electronic equipment.
Here, have a picture of Fern with her silly neck pillow.
OKAY!
How about some greenhouse news real fast?
We closed our retail spot in Wichita for the season. I think we did well! I'll know for sure tomorrow. I'm crunching numbers.
We should be getting bougainvilleas next week. They will be one of our big cash crops, hopefully. I'm looking forward to getting them in!
Last week, I took hundreds of succulent cuttings. I turned overgrown mom succulents into adorable baby succulents. Real cute. Have a look-see!

Alright, I've been half watching zombies half typing a blog post this whole time and I've decided just now that I want some kettlecorn. I can't POSSIBLY triple task all this business, and you folks are the ones getting dropped.
Better luck next time,
PS: That's my shadow. SO, it's kinda like I signed my name. Except it's a photo of my shadow. So it's different. I'm clever.
PPS: I'm trying to take your mind off the fact that I'm choosing the undead and sweet and salty popped corn over you by posting pretty photos of the greenhouse life. But I think I just ruined that.
